 · If the host has set home z to min it assumes z coordinate zero after sendung the command. This must not be the same the firmware thinks. And as you say up goes down, so inver z direction should help. That will ofcourse also change homing direction. Thats what i do not understand. Why does homing to min work if direction is set wrong.

 · I then flashed the firmware on the BTT github (` firmware-bltouch-for-z-homing.bin `) When I home the Z axis, it uses the BL touch properly to home, however, when I use the ABL in marlin, it homes x, y, z (in center of board) then moves to the first point of the mesh and probes the first spot. it probes, then it displays "Probing failed" on the screen and stops the ABL.

Z Safe Homing prevents Z from homing when the probe (or nozzle) is outside bed area by moving to a defined XY point (by default, the middle of the bed) before Z Homing when homing all axes with G28. As a side-effect, X and Y homing are required before Z homing. If stepper drivers time out, X and Y homing will be required again.

The Z-axis is homing in the wrong direction and the Y-axis still bumps into the frame. Also the homed position is at X220 Y220 and not X0 Y0 like stock. These settings could perhaps be based on an earlier unit of the Ender 5. I think Creality changed the endstop/homing position at some point.  · So, Marlin must know the association between endstops and directions, otherwise, it is not possible to be sure if a given movement will force against the endstop or will untrigger it. You can surely implement some kind of autodetection, move an axis, for example, when homing, and just assume the triggered endstop is the MIN or the MAX of that axis.
